Making your Animations look more Cinematic With Compositing

I have used Davinci Resolve, as the compositor and blender for 3d animations.

I had a node tree in Davinci, that blurred the shot, added film grain, added a vignette, and several other helpful cinematic embellishments.

Robin Squares, has a YouTube video that details his idea of a cinematic Filter.  He lists several nodes I didn't consider, and also tips on how to use these nodes.  (Adding an alpha channel to a node that didn't have one for instance. Very useful.). The best part is how he shows you how to reuse this node tree in all your shots by grouping them into a single node.  (Easy to do in blender, a little different in Davinci Resolve.)

Davinci seems better than the Blender compositor, yet several of the ideas can be done in blender compositor also.  The use of masks for the film grunge was very good, especially the node feeding that part which used a mask for the brighter spots) He also uses the same mask for Chromatic Aberration near the edges only of his shot.

The following is a Davinci Resolve tutorial for making 3d animation look more film like by Robin Squares.

I like his style of tutorials and generally his are very useful, chocked full of tips and tricks that are helpful.
