secrets-of-the-luminara Kitbash 3d challenge

The secrets of luminaria contest.

So I started with the Vehicle set.  And created a sky.

THen i thought an interior shot might be a little better.

f

i like the amount of fog here with the headlights .

night fog

I played around with a night shot maybe?

person

Back to the day shot with a free soldier i found on blendswap.com. Or maybe one of the other freebie sites.

I thought the silhouette added some mystery to who that was.  SO i didn't change the lighting to highlight him.

blimp 12

Added the blimp, tweaked the fog to be more inside than outside. FOund a better soilder From Mixamo.

blimp2

THen I added one of the other sets, added some fog the blimp, and a character and the crystal. Tried a different set, this was ok but liked the interior better. I tried an outside shot.

This is the interior with a crystal added, i found a comet in blendkit that made a nice glow around the crystal. Now there is almost enough to tell a story.

Changed the glow for the crystal to be more interesting.

And for this shot was done i think.  Except i thought i could animate some of this.

So I was thinking about what your eye sees first.  I grabbed a mixamo of a person telling a secret, which shows him talking to someone offscreen which adds more mystery.

Then I animated the crystal spinning.   Then I animated the cloth tarp with a cloth sim.  I then added flickering lights to direct your eye to the crystal in the middle of the animation after you noticed the guy talking animation.

ANimation test version one

Animation to be posted in a few days.  395 frames takes awhile to render on my crappy laptop. Run into vram issues all the time.  One thing to do is to goto the scripting tab, join any viewports with the scene so no scene showing, and then render.   That little bit of no 3d view showing saves some vram and sometimes difference between getting the no vram error.
