Idea for the shot:
So, thinking about that shot, need some asteroids, debris, a broken ship, more debris, a salvage ship, an astronaut with a spot light, and something that tells what happened to the derelict

Chris has put out quite a few tutorials that are easy to follow.
This is a tutorial from 2.7, but the ideas should work with shaders in 2.9. Very nice style
Time lapse where he is able to build the droid from a blueprint image. He textures the droid also.
ArtStation - Ansel Hsiao This guy is an excellent modeler. His Spaceships are movie quality.
cgtrader (has the best, most detailed models.)
This is one of the best Star wars shorts I've seen in terms of quality. His laser blasts are excellent, (Has a better glow and blast object than the below videos) and the shows what the Unreal Quixel Mega scans can do. He could've used Iclone7 to make his character, but used a Human Generator which ;also makes shape keys for facial poses. Just fantastic.
Blender is a powerful program and if you don't have a fast enough rig, you won't be able to do the things you really want to. Forget about simulations, or large scenes.
Get 32gigs of ram or more, (ddr5 ram just dropped in price), Get a VideoCard with 12gb of vram or more, get a large M.2 drive, and an 8 to 16core Processor.
